20151003

From little acorns...
I first made a wren necklace early summer, and since then acorns of inspiration have grown and grown: author/artist extraordinaire Jackie Morris showed me a book of poetry, and she and Robert MacFarlane have begun working on an illustrated book of nature words lost from the junior Oxford dictionary, from acorn to wren. So here is my 'Necklace of Wrens'.

20150930

This wee Polar bear, standing just under 8cm from toe to nose, is as excited as I was to learn that in Gaelic 'bobban' means woolly.

So, rather than 'Bobbin Bear', let me introduce you to....

BOBBAN BEAR:REEL AROUND

20150730

'RUNNING STITCH' will be making her way to Cirencester's New Brewery Arts gallery on Thursday...
This little sewing machine has the logo 'Baby' on it, though it really should be 'Leveret'!

20150721

If you're curious about needle-felting and not too far from Cheltenham, I'll be running a one day workshop in March. (Just before Easter, so it's chickens this time!)
All the details are here: http://www.theyardartspace.com/…

Hare 05

Fiddly Digits, Itchy Britches

I'm completely overwhelmed by this evening's 'preview' at New Brewery Arts in Cirencester....loads of stunning art work, a reading by illustrator/author/artist Jackie Morris, lovely people, and all four hares of mine sold!

Hare 04

The title of these? Hare Planes!

It's been a secret dream of mine to exhibit at New Brewery Arts in Cirencester ever since I moved to Gloucestershire... I'm so excited to have been invited to take part in the Name of the Hare exhibition.

Hare 02

Free Spirit

Delivered to Cirencester's New Brewery Arts today. 'The Names of the Hare' exhibition starts this Saturday.

20150608

The Usual Suspects

Check out http://cheltenhamopenstudios.org.uk/guidefor info on all the venues.

20150607

'The Wonder Tree' is a print I'm rather fond of, as the little lad in it is particularly close to my heart.

20150521

FOLLOW THE BEAR TO THE SUFFOLK STREET FAIR!
This bank holiday Monday I'll be in Suffolk Street, Cheltenham with my felt work and prints, 10am to 4pm.
This little fellow is work in progress...wish I had a tiny accordion for him!

20150606

The little ones - Bobbin Birds, Boar, and a couple of Peg Birds - these look like a nursery class compared to my bigger Sewing Machine Birds and Bears.

20150605

I'll be posting a picture a day in the run up to Cheltenham Open Studios...this little wren sits on the working end of an old toy sewing machine, so when the handle turns she bobs up an down with excitement at collecting nesting material! From the machine base to tip of tail is 18cm.

20150528

Had a wonderful time at the bustling Suffolks on Bank Holiday Monday, chatting with lots of people, greeting old friends and meeting new. Now to knuckle down to make new pieces to replace the fabulous sales I made in time for Cheltenham Open Studios...
